County Plc is a data intelligence firm dedicated to helping governments, corporations, and development agencies measure, monitor, and accelerate progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Operating across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, the company specializes in transforming complex socioeconomic datasets into actionable insights that bridge the gap between economic performance and human well-being.
ROLE: Global Analyst.
2. Business Problem
Despite steady global GDP per capita growth over the past decade, the relationship between economic expansion, employment creation, and overall well-being remains inconsistent across regions. While some continents demonstrate robust economic performance, they continue to experience persistently high unemployment, highlighting the challenge of “jobless growth.”
Conversely, certain wealthy nations exhibit only moderate happiness levels, suggesting that income alone does not guarantee an improved quality of life.

6. Insights
- Europe has the highest Avg Happiness Index of 6.9 which is above the Avg Happiness Index of 5.7: this means the life expectancy & social support in the European continent is better than the rest.
- Asia has the highest Avg Economic Rate of 3.9% a percent above the Avg Economic Growth rate of 2.6%. Next to Asia is Africa 3.8%. note: the Economic Growth rate is the Year-on-year percentage change in GDP, showing economic expansion or contraction.
- Switzerland is the country with the highest GDP per capita in the category of the Top 10 with over $893,821, next is Norway with $833,660. The last in that category is Germany with $485,970.
- We have established that the European countries have the highest Avg Happiness Index, they also have the highest life Expectancy of 82.08 with North America at 76.20 and lastly Africa 64.93.
7. Recommendations
- Addressing the “Jobless Growth” in High-Unemployment Regions: Governments and development partners should channel investment into labour-intensive sectors to ensure GDP growth creates jobs.
- Encourage sector diversification to reduce dependency on a few volatile industries (e.g., commodity exports) and strengthen resilience to global shocks.
- Prioritize quality-of-life investments such as healthcare, work-life balance initiatives, and social cohesion programs, even in high-income economies.
- Develop economic shock absorbers such as stronger social safety nets, emergency liquidity facilities, and diversified supply chains to cushion against global disruptions.
